SARS is a contagious disease and is very severe. SARS comes from severe acute respiratory syndrome and is a disease that put in danger the lives of many people around the world. In 2002 and 2003, SARS made many victims and everyone was afraid of not having this disease. At that time, SARS came from Hong Kong and then spread in 37 countries, so imagine how strong is the virus. In the same years, there have been about 916 deaths caused by SARS.
Unfortunately, SARS has not been eradicated and can appear anytime, so we need to have a very strong immune system, but the disease defeats it in many cases. The bad things about SARS is that its symptoms are similar with those that are found in influenza, so you cannot make a big difference only by this. Believing that you have influenza, you do not get the proper treatment, so the virus evolves and SARS takes control over your health and body.
The symptoms of SARS that look like that of influenza are gastrointestinal problems, lethargy, cough, fever, but the only symptom that appears at almost all the people is the fever that is above 38 degrees Celsius, usually followed by the problems regarding breathing. The virus that causes SARS is called Coronavirus (CoV) and develops inside the cytoplasm where takes place the replication of it. Besides the symptoms mentioned above, the causes of the SARS can be the sexual contact with a person who has it or traveling in the regions where were cases of SARS. More, X-ray is another proof that will confirm the doctor if the patient suffers from SARS and is not influenza or other health problem. There are many tests that will show the doctor if the patient suffers from SARS as the small number of white cells and the platelets. The treatment for SARS Consists of antibiotics, steroids or ribavirin, but other methods are studied now and in the future exists the possibility of more advanced methods of curing SARS. It is important to take your temperature and if the breathing problems appear, along with other problems, consult the doctor and see what health problem you have, if it is SARS or not.
